Growing up we are shown that minorities have it worse off than white americans. We are shown that minorities live in poverty. Poverty can strike everyone, everywhere, in every state. However there is a theme in the U.S that poverty strikes minorities more than it strikes other americans, It’s a stereotype. It is said that minorities are involved with guns, drugs, and violence just for the fun. However the media doesn’t focus on what conditions people are forced to live in, and doesn’t explain why these conditions force minorities to drugs, guns and violence. Minorities are not the only ones subjected to live in poverty, and the “Majority” aren’t the only one to have stability. Poverty depends on ambition, and ambition creates character and gives a will to make something out of yourself. People of all race, color, and background don’t have equal chances to get a head however, that does not subject people of different skin colors to poverty. The way our communities are set up, and the way that our cities look that we are placed in situations that look like poverty, and it is our job to get a better life. Why are we taught to view minorities in inaccurate ways?
